The first volume focuses on the coinage issued by various provinces, while the second volume covers the coinage issued by the Central Government, the Chinese Soviet Republics, and during the Japanese occupation. The provinces that minted coins include Chekiang, Fukien, Honan, Hupeh, Kansu, Kiangsi, Kwangtung, Kweichow, Manchuria, Shansi, Shensi, Sikang, and Sinkiang (which also saw the formation of the Islamic Republic of East Turkestan and the Uighuristan Republic), as well as Suiyuan, Szechuan, and Yunnan.
