The Department of Coins, Medals and Antiquities at the National Library of France houses the most extraordinary collection of French royal gold coins.
This fully illustrated two-volume catalogue covers gold issues from Louis IX to Louis XVI, including many rare and unique specimens.

This outstanding work was awarded the 2025 Book Prize by the International Association of Professional Numismatists (IAPN).

The author, Jean-Yves Kind, is an archivist and former advisor at the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where he specialized in treaty conservation. Since 2009, he has managed the French coin collection at the BnF. He is a prolific author with numerous publications in the Revue numismatique and the Bulletin de la Société française de numismatique.
